Step Up to the Plate to Benefit Local Ministry Food Pantry

Action Ministries Rome is striving to get the community involved in helping the hungry with an event called Step Up to the Plate on Thursday, Nov. 5, reported WRGA in Rome on Nov. 4.
Rev. Chris Barbieri talked with John Druckenmiller on Wednesday’s Hometown Headlines Radio Edition about the event and explained 20 local restaurants in Rome are participating.
“They are going to donate 10 percent of their proceeds to the Action Ministries Rome Food Pantry program. So, we encourage everyone to eat lunch, dinner and dessert out tomorrow and you’ll be helping your hungry neighbors here in our community.”
Barbieri said this is the first year for Step Up to the Plate, but there is hope for it to become an annual event.
“As the more restaurant owners become aware of this program, we hope that we’ll get a little wider participation next year. We’d love to add another five to 10 restaurants.”
The participating restaurants are:
  • Bella Roma Grill
  • Duffy’s Deli
  • El Zarape Mexican Restaurant
  • Harvest Moon Café
  • Honeymoon Bakery
  • Jamwich
  • Jandy’s Frozen Yogurt
  • Jerusalem Grill
  • La Conquista
  • Longhorn Steakhouse
  • Moe’s Southwest Grill
  • Provino’s
  • Roma Mia Restorante Italiano
  • Schroeder’s New Deli
  • Shane’s Rib Shack
