Augusta, GA (July 14, 2016) — Action Ministries’ Smart Lunch, Smart Kid partnered with the Richmond County Board of Education for the first time this summer, distributing more than 6,000 meals to children who otherwise might go without. These USDA meals end on July 15, and Smart Lunch, Smart Kid will fill in the gap with 100 lunches served to Augusta’s children weekdays through July 29.
Smart Lunch, Smart Kid needs volunteers to assemble and deliver lunches. It also needs donations, including the following:
- Paper lunch bags
- Sandwich meat (turkey and ham)
- Individual packaged healthy snacks — pretzels, trail mix, cheese crackers, etc.
- 100 percent juice boxes/bottled water
- Individual packaged fruit snacks — dried fruit, apple sauce or fruit cups
- Fresh fruit
- Peanut butter and jelly
Donations can be dropped off at Maxwell House by making prior arrangements with Liz Byrd at 706-231-2362 or email@example.com.
