ATLANTA — Some friendly competition kept the assembly lines going as 11Alive teamed up with Action Ministries to make smart lunches for smart kids in need, reported 11Alive News today.
“We’re just doing our part,” said 11Alive Meteorologist Chesley McNeil.
“I think it’s an unbelievable opportunity in a short amount of time to touch the lives of a lot of people,” said 11Alive General Manager John Deushane of the Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program.
The lunches will be delivered to children who rely on free or reduced lunches during the school year.
When summer starts and they’re out of school, they struggle.
“Our goal is to make 250,000 lunches this summer,” said Action Ministries CEO John J. Moeller, Jr. “11Alive is going to make the first 600. What we want is to see these lunches get in the hands of the hungriest children in our city.”
