Current Opportunities

Atlanta Women's Community Kitchen iconWomen’s Community Kitchen

Groups and individuals provide and serve lunch at the Women’s Community Kitchen, where we serve more than 20,000 meals each year to low-income and homeless women and children.

Groups and individuals provide and serve a hot meal and to-go bags each Sunday at Trinity Table. Plan a special project, such as distributing winter coats, socks, hygiene kits or other items needed by our guests.

Ongoing Opportunities

  • Donate sack lunches to the Women’s Community Kitchen to provide weekend meals, ensuring that clients receive food 7 days a week
  • Donate new children’s clothing, school supplies, summer camp scholarships and healthy snacks
  • Sponsor a child in the Smart Kid After-School program
  • Become an after-school or reading tutor for the Smart Kid After-School program
  • Sponsor a Saturday field trip for homeless children enrolled in the Smart Kid After-School program
  • Donate cleaning supplies, trash bags and paper products for use in our community kitchens
FAQs
What is involved in becoming a tutor in the Smart Kid After-School program? Volunteers are needed to help children improve their reading and math skills. They also assist with homework assignments and craft projects. Volunteers should be college-aged or older and must be able to volunteer for at least four hours each month. Potential workers must pass a background check in order to work with children.
 
What is involved in serving lunch at the Women’s Community Kitchen? Your group of 5-7 volunteers will purchase, prepare, plate and serve lunch for approximately 50 women and children. Please arrive at 10 a.m. to prepare the meals. Lunch is served at 11 a.m. Your group will serve the meals “restaurant-style” to guests, who will be seated at tables. After lunch, your group will clean up the kitchen and fellowship hall.
 
What is involved in serving lunch at the Trinity Table Kitchen? Your group of up to 30 volunteers will purchase, prepare, plate and serve lunch and to-go meals for approximately 200 guests. Please arrive by 11 a.m. to prepare the meals and space. Lunch is served from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Your group will serve the meals “restaurant-style” to guests, who will be seated at tables. Each guest will receive a to-go bag of additional food as they leave the kitchen. After lunch, your group will clean up the kitchen and serving space.

What are some sample menus for the community kitchens?

  • Two hot dogs, baked beans, piece of fruit, slice of cake
  • Two ham and cheese sandwiches, bag of chips, canned fruit, cookie
  • Piece of chicken, green beans, roll, baked potato, jello
