Georgia’s Own Credit Union Campaign Raises $27,000 for Leading Nonprofit

Leaders of Action Ministries and Georgia’s Own Credit Union announced that their joint “It’s in the Bag” campaign in June raised $27,000, which translates to nearly 6,800 lunches for food-insecure kids in Georgia, reported Metro Atlanta CEO today.  Customers from twenty local branches participated and helped exceed the original $25,000 goal for the four-week campaign.

Close to 1 million children in the state lose access to free and reduced-price lunches when school is out for the summer, adding to the burden of parents already struggling with poverty. This year, Georgia’s Own Credit Union partnered with the Action Ministries Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program to reduce that figure in its local communities.
