Backpack Buddies Program Organizers Hope to Add More Sites, Feed More Children

Keeping stomachs from growling is the main thing workers at the Action Ministries Rome Bagwell Food Pantry are aiming at this summer, as they gear up for their Backpack Buddies “on steroids” season, reported the Rome News-Tribune today.

“If they have empty stomachs during the school year, they can’t concentrate,” explained program coordinator Ramona Schwengel. “During the summer, we know many children depend on the Backpack Buddies over the weekend.”
