Action Ministries announced today that it is one of just 15 organizations selected to become members of the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta in 2017. The CVC of Atlanta is a network of more than 70 local businesses that are passionate about volunteerism. Its members join to share ways to address community needs through workplace volunteering, and the CVC provides the resources needed to help its members build strong community investment strategies and make a difference through service. Action Ministries will be working with these companies to attract and engage their volunteers in our programs and to promote the continued growth of service and civic engagement as a lifelong passion.
Originally formed in 1992 as the Metro Atlanta Corporate Volunteer Council, the CVC of Atlanta incorporated as an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 1994 and grew significantly in preparation for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. The signature IMPACT Awards program began in 1999 to recognize excellence in corporate volunteerism and has awarded more than third of a million dollars to Atlanta area nonprofits to increase their capacity to leverage corporate volunteers.
The CVC of Atlanta connects and inspires businesses and volunteer leaders to make a positive impact on the Atlanta community. Its members represent a variety of roles ranging from corporate social responsibility and community affairs to human resources and marketing. Workplace volunteerism has long been viewed as an employee benefit, but it also has tremendous potential to impact serious social issues. Throughout the business community, the CVC of Atlanta raises awareness about corporate volunteerism and its benefits to companies.
